No, JIPMER Puducherry doesn't accept students on the basis of NEET for the B.Sc. in Optometry course. Rather, admissions are held on the basis of the entrance exam of JIPMER or according to the institute's admission policy. Applicants should have a 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany/Zoology, and English as core subjects. The selection process normally consists of an online entrance examination followed by counseling. Eligibility criteria, pattern of exams, and admission process can be altered every year, hence it's advised to refer to the official JIPMER website for updates.

Notably Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) accepts students through a Special Quota (formerly known as the Self-Financing Quota). This option enables students who have not acquired seats through standard counseling to receive admission by paying a higher cost. For the academic year 2024-25 PJTSAU has awarded seats under this quota among numerous colleges including the College of Agriculture in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad which has an intake of 145 students.
