VIT Chennai college review -2024.
Placements: Around 80 percent of students got placed last year. The average package was around 8 LPA. Top companies include IBM, Amazon, Microsoft, PayPal, Intel, etc. It is mandatory for a student to do an internship to get a degree, so almost everyone did an internship.
Infrastructure: VIT has very good infrastructure, with numerous buildings and trees. It has a library with sufficient books where we can get both hard copies and soft copies of books. Each block has around 700 classrooms and labs. My experience with the hostel was average, as it's too expensive and the selection of rooms isn't our choice. They allot based on the ranks given to us based on merit.
Faculty: Faculty members are professionals with doctorates. They are friendly with students and always available for doubt clarification. VIT's course curriculum is quite different from other colleges. It is a credit-based system where a student can select courses of his choice. The only condition is that he/she should complete the given amount of credit by the end of the course to get a certificate.
Other: I chose VIT Chennai as it is one of the best colleges in terms of placement. Things that can be improved: Improvise hostel facilities and provide regular outings to students. Conduct more sports-related competitions.

VIT Chennai is overall a great college.
Placements: As per my knowledge, the placement percentage would easily be around 98%. Each course has a different amount of placement but all of them are learning to be positive. Most of the students have a nice offer with them. The highest package as of now is 43 LPA by a B.Tech student of the CSE branch; he was also a winner of many hackathons so that helped him a lot. The lowest, as far as I know, is 5 LPA. Top recruiters would be Accenture, IBM, Infosys, Microsoft, Zomato, JP Morgan and many more. The number of companies associated with the college is around 690, offering great packages. Almost everyone from my branch got internships; some got in with IBM, some with Zomato and also Infosys and Deloitte. The top roles offered would be software development, full-stack developer and SWE (software engineer).
Infrastructure: The hostel's facilities are very good. We have housekeeping as well, who comes to clean the room every evening. We have laundry services as well, free of charge. The Wi-Fi is the only problem in the hostels. We get Wi-Fi from 6 AM to 12, sometimes until 12:30, and the speed is throttled; we get a limited speed of 7-8 Mbps. By luck, we may get 100–150 Mbps for a few hours on some lucky days. The classes are good as well. The buildings are new and the classes are good, although without AC but we get used to it after some time. The library is great because it has many book options for reference for each course, even some extracurricular fields. The mess is great. Some people might think hostel food is not good but actually ours is, but since the menu is very repetitive, we get bored sometimes. For that, we gave Dominos on campus and also some other outlets for some nice food. The sports facilities are available but can't be labelled great; they are good enough that we can issue sports items like bats, basketball, and even carroms for anyone willing to play .
Faculty: All the teachers are obviously qualified enough but some are not very helpful; they just want to get rid of it. We do get a FFCS (fully flexible credit system), which helps us select our own teachers and be wary of bad advice by our seniors. The curriculum is good. The first year is almost basic but from second year on, we start to get into our core streams and become industry-ready. It doesn't matter what college we go to; we always need to learn from ourselves, apart from curriculum, to help us stand out from crowd. We get three exams in a semester: CAT-1 CAT-2 and FAT. CAT-1 is normal exam of 50 marks, which will be reduced to 15 for final marking CAT-2 is an open book exam, although sounds like an open book, but the questions come a bit twisted so it's not that easy Then comes FAT, which is 100 marks out of which 40 are passing and has 40% weightage in final. The rest is upto assignments and quiz held by the teachers The exams are not tough per se, because you will SEE a variety of marks in the same class so it is just determination towards it.
Other: I chose this course since I am interested in the workings of AI and the current boom in the industry. Events: I would say we have plenty of them every day. This is a new event organized by a variety of clubs on campus. The crowd is huge but you won't notice it that much until classes get over and everyone is going to gazeebo ( a food court on campus). Also, we have one cultural and one technical festival at different times in the year, both of which are great with lots of great opportunities. The seniors are super helpful as well. As for connectivity, yes, the campus is very far from Chennai; it takes 1.5 hours to reach Chennai airport, which is very expensive for a college student if choose to take cabs but public transport is easily available, which is also very cheap .

Don't fall for the high ranking of the college and its tier-two status.
Placements: A very few students get placed Every year. Even the job roles they get are within 3.5LPA. The major company that come for M.Sc. Data science students is Syngen which is a pharmaceutical company. The highest package our seniors got is 3.5LPA. However, majority of them managed to get an internship.
Infrastructure: As a whole it is good. However hostelers are not given Wi-Fi access while being in the academic blocks. Many a labs are air conditioned. Classrooms are either stadium type or normal ones. Projectors are avail in each class. Even though the class strength is more than 70 teachers are reluctant to use microphones.
Faculty: The difficulty of the exams depend just on our faculty. For many a courses we can't even choose the faculty of interest. They are highly qualified and hence their level of teaching is also so high level so that beginners in any area find it difficult to understand.
Other: VITs doesn't organize any celebrations. There is no sports or arts day. We have tech VIT and Vibrance in where all events are paid to participate.

Review of Vellore Institute of Technology - Chennai Campus.
Placements: 100% placements were achieved. The highest was 75 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, De Shaw and Co, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nvidia, Accenture, TCS etc. In the same companies, many got internships too for roles like advance analyst engineer, software engineer, and more such job roles.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi in all hostels up to 200 GB per student per month. Good classrooms, multiple amenities are there. 3 academic buildings, 3 boys hostels, 1 girls hostel, 1 boys+girls hostel. Swimming, cricket, football, tennis, carrom, chess, basketball, volleyball, kho, and what not. Awesome food specially for North Indians.
Faculty: 50 minutes per class. Fully flexible credit system, we can choose our own teachers as well as timetable based on CGPA, attendance. Industrial visits for practical knowledge in 2-3 subjects each semester. 0% attendance for 9 pointers. Exams are of moderate level.
Other: Annual cultural fest - Vibrance. Annual tech fest - TechnoVIT. Crowd is decent.

VIT Chennai review by Akshat Jain.
Placements: About 92% of the students were placed with the highest package being around 1.1 crores LPA and the lowest package being 4 LPA and the average being 8.5 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Google, Adobe etc. As a student here, I am proud to share the experience of my college which holds high ranks in several ranking systems.
Infrastructure: The campus is equipped with good Wi-Fi facilities and modern labs, spacious classrooms and a huge library. The mess food is average and the cleanliness quotient of the mess and bathrooms is also average. Hostel buildings are well maintained with amenities such as 24/7 security, laundry services etc.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified but an accent change makes their speech difficult to understand the subject while teaching which often gets the students frustrated at them. The course curriculum is designed to be relevant to the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence in Computer Science. The semester exams are comprehensive and challenging, designed to assess students of the subjects.
Other: I chose this course due to my interest in technology and it’s promising career prospects. Campus is vibrant, with numerous events and fests, a diverse crowd, good connectivity and modern facilities.
