Straight answer. 'Not Fixed'. Companies don't offer hefty package because they are IIT-B students. They get a high package because of their own hard work and industrial exposure. So, it's not necessary that only IIT-B students get placed in Google or Facebook and earn crore of rupees. Anyone (even 2 level of college students) can grab big chunk salary provided you 'deliver what the companies are expecting from you'. Hope you get that. Just to specify you. As per the last year's data, the median salary was 18 LPA (i.e., CTC).

Comparing the topics of B.Tech CSE and B.Tech IT would't be any useful to you. Because if you consider B.Tech in CSE, different universities have different course plans. Even colleges under the same university have different course plan. So don't try to compare. Which one is better? I would say CSE is better. As that covers both how and SW. Most NITs and IITs have CSE programme. I would suggest you to do your own research to know about the syllabus. B.Tech in computer science and B.Tech in IT are somewhat same. But you can say that CSE is a much wider term. It means CSE is a set and IT is a subset. If you want specialisation in software engineering related field, then I would suggest you to go with B.Tech in IT. However, if you want the entire domain of computer and its programming with IT then you can opt for CSE. Now, the choice is yours. To be more specific again, B.Tech IT is the best for software engineering. I hope this helps. Up vote the answer if you feel satisfied.

You must appear for the engineering entrance examinations and must get marks above the cut-off then only you will be able to get admissions in CSE stream.

Generally above 8 CGPA is required, you have to search university websites and look at the preferred score. Check University of Dalhousie, McMaster University, University of NewFoundland, Simon Fraser etc.
