Generally in SSC, and banking exam they ask general studies and general knowledge in which major part is history and social science things so if you want to know which course is good for these exams then B.A. is good option for you.

There is no need of coaching believe me, if you are a bit good in maths and have average reading skills you can easily crack the exam.
All you need is few books and regular tests.
There is no such specific book. There are multiple book each for each parts, and some multiple.
So, sections of exam are:
Gk and CA
English
Reasoning
Aptitude
Books recommended for each section are :-
1. Gk and CA : Ncert - 8th to 12th social science ( History, political science, Geography, Economics), and Science (physics , chem , Biology (imp))
As most of it will be covered by this, now what you require after all this is filling gaps for that you will require :
