What is JEMAT?

JEMAT or Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test is a state-level entrance exam for admissions in top B-Schools of West Bengal. The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT, WB) administers JEMAT every year for MBA admission. MAKAUT conducts JEMAT to evaluate the test takers' knowledge across three sections: Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and English. As per the exam pattern of JEMAT, the exam shall comprise a total of 100 MCQs that are to be answered within a duration of one hour. The admission process based on JEMAT 2025 includes completing the registration, downloading admit card, appearing for the JEMAT exam, and participating in the GD-PI rounds. Performance as per JEMAT score and GD-PI scores will be compiled further to prepare a merit list. Q:   Do I need to apply for JEMAT if I have a valid CAT score?

The admission to JEMAT participating colleges is done based on the counselling process conducted by MAKAUT. Several colleges that accept JEMAT scores may also accept CAT scores for admission. Candidates must check the admission policy released by the participating colleges to know about the detailed admission process.

Q:   What is the mode of JEMAT exam?
A: 

JEMAT exam is conducted online as a computer based test. Candidates can appear for the exam on a predefined date. In the previous sessions of the JEMAT exam, MAKAUT had conducted the exam as a remote proctored test. The mode of JEMAT may change in the future. Candidates can find the updated exam pattern for JEMAT on its official exam website.

Q:   When will the JEMAT be conducted?
A: 

The JEMAT phase I exam is generally conducted in the last week of June. This exam is the first phase of the JEMAT exam and is conducted for candidates who wish to apply for MBA/MHA courses in the participating institutes. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and is designed to test the candidate's aptitude in various areas such as language comprehension, mathematical skills, data analysis, and reasoning.

The second phase of the JEMAT exam is conducted by MAKAUT in September.

JEMAT applications are available on the official JEMAT website from the day of the beginning of the registration process. Aspiring candidates can log on to the website and fill the application form directly.

All candidates who register for the exam will be issued the JEMAT admit card. Candidates have to download the JEMAT hall ticket to take the entrance exam.

JEMAT Eligibility Criteria 2026

JEMAT Exam Pattern 2026

JEMAT will be conducted in a computer-based test mode from home. The JEMAT question paper will consist of 100 MCQs to be answered in one hour. The questions will be asked from English, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning.

The JEMAT 2026 exam will likely be conducted in a remotely proctored mode from home. Candidates can take the test from their android phone or a Laptop. The device selection is subject to technical requirements to be intimated by MAKAUT, WB. Thus, there are no exam centres for the JEMAT exam 2023. Candidates can take the test safely from the comfort of their homes. However, the exam details are yet to be released, MAKAUT can conduct the exam in an offline mode as well.

NOTE: The JEMAT Committee reserves the right to make changes to the mode of the exam from remotely proctored to online/offline
