Admissions to 12th are not controlled by state but eligibility is decided by the university. For B.Sc in biotechnology, bio is desirable but not mandatory in 12th.

Biotechnology is a branch with good scope for higher studies. Unfortunately, the placements are not at par with other branches. Most of the placement is in mass companies go with an average package of 3.5 LPA. But, VIT and SRM provide almost equal opportunities.

Hello Pavi,
Biotechnology is a rapidly developing field. Many private businesses are exploring this field and heavily investing in it. It is safe to say that there are ample job opportunities for BE/B.Tech biotechnology graduates in private sector. Government sector too offers job opportunities, but not in the scale in which private sector does. Average starting salary is generally between 2.4 to 5 Lakh rupees per year.
Some prominent industries where biotechnology professionals may find jobs are- Pharmaceuticals Industry, Healthcare sector, Chemical Industry, Agriculture sector, Food Processing and Technology as well as Research sector.
