Selection Process for MBA at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences

The selection process for the MBA programme at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS) is based on a combination of factors, including:

Entrance Exam Score:

• Minimum CAT percentile of 50
• Minimum CMAT score of 60
• Minimum KMAT (Kerala) score of 108
• Minimum MAT score of 500

Other Factors:

• Academic performance in your undergraduate degree
• Work experience (if any)
• Performance in the Personal Interview (PI)
• Written Ability Test (WAT)

The selection process typically involves the following steps:

1. Application: Submit your application form online or offline along with the required documents and fees.
2. Shortlisting: Based on your entrance exam score and academic performance,  you may be shortlisted for the next round.
3. Personal Interview (PI): This is an individual interview to assess your communication skills,  personality,  and motivation for pursuing an MBA.
4. Written Ability Test (WAT): This test assesses your writing skills and ability to analyze and articulate your thoughts.
5. Final Selection: The final selection will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of your performance in all stages of the process.

Minimum CAT Percentile:

The minimum CAT percentile required for admission to the MBA programme at RCSS is 50. However, the actual cut-off may vary depending on the number of applicants, the difficulty of the CAT exam, and the availability of seats.

The CAT (Common Admission Test) exam pattern for 2023 remains consistent with the format established over the past two years. Prescribed by the IIMs, CAT 2023 features 66 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be solved within a time frame of 120 minutes. This duration is divided equally among the three sections of the exam, allowing 40 minutes for each section. The CAT 2023 exam pattern was officially released on July 30, concurrent with the announcement of CAT 2023 registrations. Notably, this structure has been maintained since 2020 when the exam duration and question count were reduced from 180 minutes and 100 questions, respectively, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with the test structure, sectional time limits, marking scheme, and individual sections for effective preparation. 

CAT (Common Aptitude Test) 2023 was held in the month of November, 2023 and the results are expected to be out in the month of January 2024. However, the answer keys are out and candidates who have attempted for the November examination can check their answers on the official website. They can also submit objections, if any, until December 8^th. For now, the IIM, Bangalore expected CAT cutoff 2023 on the basis of 2022 CAT percentile for different categories is as follows:

·       General- 99

·       EWS- 99

·       OBC- 81.48

·       SC- 70

·       ST- 60

·       PWD- 70

CMAT Entrance Examination is believed to be easier than CAT and other entrance examination for students wanting to pursue Business and management programs.

Reasons for the same being the difficulty level of questions in both the examination, Former consists of questions with Easy to Moderate level of questions, while the latter has Moderate to Difficult level of questions. Other reasons include, the time limitation, CMAT has no sectional boundry, giving the candidates no stress about finishing a particular section first or on time. One more reason of why candidates find CMAT easier than most entrance examination is that it is held in the end of rest entrance examination like CAT, MAT or XAT, Making the candidates familiar with the common topics and question pattern.
