All topics are equally important, everything from visual spatial ability, general knowledge, Science, arts, mathematics and mensuration, mental ability. It is important to go through the previous year's question papers to know the pattern because there is negative marking so one gets familiarised with the type of tricking questions. Part A contains objective type questions (multiple choice questions, multiple select questions and numerical answer questions) which is a computer based test for 1 hour. Part B is a paper based test for 2 hours, which could include drawing, creative thinking, design problem solving, communication skills etc.

CEED is an entrance exam for postgraduate Design courses such as M.Des and UCEED entrance exam is for undergraduate Design courses such as B. Des. UCEED is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign). Many reputed colleges such as Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur (IIITDMJ) aceept UCEED scores.
