Chemical Engineering

Well, both branches are good.
Depends on what you want to do. Engineers apply principles from science to create practical solutions to real-world problems. Chemical engineers use chemistry to develop fuel, food, drugs and new substances. Petroleum engineers cover chemistry and geology to extract oil and gas from under the earth's surface. Though both professions need a Bachelor's degree, they study different subjects.
Chemical Engineers:
Chemical engineers can work in any industry that uses material substances because they solve problems about the production or use of chemicals and other materials. They can create new drugs to relieve colds, find better ways to preserve canned goods or create airplane coatings that resist weather damage. They troubleshoot problems with manufacturing, develop new methods of production, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and development safety procedures for those working with hazardous chemicals. The profession requires a minimum Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, which is more commonly called chemical and biomolecular engineering. A professional engineer's license may enhance job prospects.
Petroleum Engineers:
Petroleum engineers find more efficient and profitable ways to extract oil and gas. They design extraction equipment, plan how to drill in oil and gas fields and then recover the oil and gas, test and survey wells, and ensure that oil field equipment is installed, operated and maintained. They often work with geologists and other earth Science specialists to understand how geologic formation affects rocks that contain oil reserves. A Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering is sufficient for entry-level jobs. However, a Master's degree allows work as an instructor in some universities, or in research and development. Practical experience, such as from an internship or summer jobs is also desirable for graduates.

Now, the scope of chemical engineering is so vast that it is possible to fetch a job very easily. It ranges from core Oil and Gas, Mineral Processing, Pharma, Polymers to Pollution Control. So, opportunities are practically huge. Being chemical engineer opens you to go to any of the sectors. Chemical engineers are required both in government (BPCL, ONGC) and private sectors. Their job profile ranges from Production engineer, Design Engineer, etc. ICT, Mumbai is one of the premier chemical engineering institutions in the country. Both NIT Agartala and NIT Rourkela are good. In case of CSE in NIT Agartala, Placements: Placement is not very much impressive. Because of its remote location few companies are willing to visit for campus placements. Placement for CSE branch is comparatively good. 90% of the job offers come from IT sector. Placement for non CSE branches are not good. Generally 2u20133 IT service based companies (like Infosys, IBM, Wipro, Tech Mahindra etc. ). Visit for mass campus drives. They hire like 70u2013150 people in a slot. Then some product based IT companies (like Samsung, Oracle, information edge etc. ). Also come. They hire like 2u20137 people in a slot. Then there are some other non IT companies like MuSigma, L&T, Kirlosker, Vedanta etc. Also come. PSUs also pay visit as well at the very end of the placement session. Overall placement for CSE is better. To get a good job you need to be in top layer of your branch. Its actually not so easy to get a job from NITA. But, each year the placement statistics is improving, average package is 6-7 LPA. Chemical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of NIT Rourkela. It has some of the best faculty members and infrastructure on campus. The department recently underwent a massive renovation and up-gradation providing it with infrastructure and logistics at par with international establishments. Placements are similar to other branches of NIT Rourkela. A lot of students undertake higher studies, in India and abroad, in fields such as Materials, Processing, Nanotechnology, Extraction etc. Many of them are pursuing their MS/MS-PhD in some of the most prestigious universities of the world. NIT-Rourkela has been ranked at 12th position by NIRF rankings. Chemical Engineering is very good academic wise in NIT Rourkela. Chemical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of NIT Rourkela. It has some of the best faculty members and infrastructure on campus. The department recently underwent a massive renovation and up-gradation providing it with infrastructure and logistics at par with international establishments. Placements are similar to other branches of NIT Rourkela.
