I would say that mechanical engineering has better placements than biotechnology as only few colleges offer it and some of those colleges are not good too.
So you may opt for mechanical engineering.
It is better to choose a good college than a good course as it will help you in future.
If you want to do biotechnology you may do it From IIT Madras, Anna University or SSN College of Engineering.

It's great to hear from you, I am sorry unfortunately we don't have distance learning or executive MBA, we have two shifts for full-time MBA.
But there are provisions for completion of degree in 1.5 years

Vel tech is a decent university which is a better option for engineering when you don't get a good one among the affiliated colleges.
The college might be a little strict but it is good in terms of teaching, infrastructure and placements.
To say Just for CSE, it is a good college.
