The BTech in Civil Engg. syllabus taught in classes is a mix of both core and elective subjects. There is no scope for customization in core subjects as those are compulsory for you to study in each semester. The core subjects give you a strong foundational base of the Civil Engineering field so that you can become job-ready for the future.

The Civil Engineering subjects for a BTech degree includes core and elective subjects. You can definitely get admission to BTech Civil Engineering without giving the entrance exam. There are more than 990 colleges that take students on the basis of Class 12 board exam marks. Having said that, the top IITs and NITs in India strictly give admission on the basis of entrance exam scores.
It is always better to give the entrance test and get excellent marks in the same as it gives you a backup option for admission. Rest, you must work hard and score well in both Class 12 and entrance exam to grab a seat at a decent college for BTech Civil Engineering.

Time involved in B Tech Civil Engineering admission process can be different according to college because every college follows a set of admission rules.
In general BTech Civil Engg. admission process can take up to a few months from entrance exams to seat allotment and fee payment.

Most of the top-ranked BTech Civil Engg. colleges in India give admission to students on the basis of valid entrance exam scores. If you're targeting the IITs and NITs in India, you must give relevant entrance tests and get outstanding marks and rank in the same to be able to secure a seat at the institution.
Having said that, more than 990 colleges admit students on the basis of Class 12 board exam marks. These colleges often take additional rounds like the GD or PI to assess the knowledge and capability of the applicants. Further, a few colleges may give equal weightage to both the parameters.
