Given below is the application process for admission to undergraduate and graduate courses at Thompson Rivers University.

Undergraduate Courses

• First of all, apply online and pay a non-refundable application fee to complete the application
• Next, upload the required documents and transcripts
• If a student becomes a successful applicant, he / she will receive a conditional acceptance letter. This process usually takes one week
• Then, pay the fee and courier the official transcripts
• Finally, students will receive a final acceptance letter

Graduate Courses

• First of all, apply online
• Next, upload all the needed documents and transcripts
• Then, students will receive an email from International Graduate Admission with the students’ TRU id
• After the completed application is received by TRU, it will be processed and submitted to a selection committee
• If a student becomes a successful applicant, then he / she will receive a conditional acceptance letter
• Then, pay the fee and courier the official transcripts to International Graduate Admissions at TRU
• Lastly, students will receive a final acceptance letter

Yes, students can work in part-time jobs, while studying at Norther College. As a matter of fact, as per the curriculum of Northern College, students must do internships while studying to complete their degree. Northern College also offers co-op or internships as part of their curriculum. However, please note that international students coming to Canada on study visas must have a provision that allows them to work in part-time jobs while studying in Canada. International students are required to have a work permit from the visa embassy along with their study permit. A work permit from the college may not be mandatory for working on-campus jobs as long as the study visa has the permit from the embassy.

Requirements for Undergraduate courses

·      English Language Requirements - IELTS – Academic (6.5 with no less than 6.0)/ TOEFL iBT (88 or above with no less than 20 in each of the four components)/ PTE Academic (65 with no less than 60 in each components)/ Duolingo (125 or above)

·      Quantitative and Analytical Skills Requirements – Must score a minimum of 50% in Standard XII level Math for admission

Requirements for Graduate courses

Students who complete their studies at a relevant high school and/or recognized post-secondary institution will be considered for admission. International applicants must be in good standing and demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in English. UNBC has country-specific academic requirements, thus, for Indian aspirants the requirements are as follows:

Undergraduate Admission

Students must have Class 12 or Standard XII Board Examination results issued by examination boards, such as ISC, GCSE, AISSCE, etc. For general entry, students should have a minimum average grade of 50% or higher in English Class 12, three academic subjects, and an elective. Apart from this, students who have a three-year diploma issued by a state board of education will also be accepted. A minimum average grade of 50% or higher is required for general entry.

Additionally, any one of these English proficiency test score is required:

English requirements can also be fulfilled if the student has:

• A final grade of 75% (B) or better in a university transferable English course, or
• Completed two full years of full-time degree level studies or equivalent at a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction.

Graduate Admissions

Indian graduate applicants should possess any of these academic qualifications from a university or institution accredited by India's National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of A or better. GRE or GMAT may be required as per course requirements.

The Simon Fraser University requirement for international students to study BBA programme are as follows:

• A min. of five approved Grade 12 courses, including English Studies 12  (min 70%) or equivalent.

QUANTITATIVE AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT

You must fulfill this requirement in one of the following ways:

• A min. grade of 60% or C in an approved grade 11 or grade 12 math course

OR

• A min. score of 3 in IB Mathematics, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, Mathematics Applications or Interpretations, or Math Studies

English Language Requirements

A satisfactory score on one of the following English language proficiency tests:

• IELTS – Academic- All test formats accepted with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no part less than 6.0.

OR

• TOEFL iBT- with an overall score of 88 or better with a minimum score of 20 in each of the four components (listening, speaking, writing, reading).
