It is of course very nice to see that the dream of your son is to become an astronaut. However, one must look at the ground realities of our dreams. Invariably no country will select nationals from other countries to become astronauts. Hence, your son cannot become astronaut in America or Russia or China only the three countries at the moment or even from other countries whose nationals Russia has trained and sent in space as astronauts like the Indian astronaut who was sent aboard Russian vehicle. Since you have a Diploma in Computer Science, it'll be best if you pursue your B.Tech or B.E. Degree in Computer Science only. You can also opt for ECE or IT.

Yes, MTech in power electronics is definitely an option to be pursued for obtaining post graduation in engineering. There is a vast potential for the students having professional degrees in this area. Hi,
Distance learning programs are good while you are in jobs because of time constrains. But, if you are fresher or unemployed than in my opinion you have to go with the regular BSC-CS course, because there are so many of doubts and issues, which cannot be solved through the distance learning mode. Most important the required pace and motivation are another factors which cannot be attained by using the distance learning mode. Further you are also eligible for B.Tech lateral entry scheme of various engineering colleges, so you have to look this aspect also. Good Luck.

Because, there are so many issues and doubts, which cannot be clear through the distance mode and most important the required pace and motivation cannot be attained through the distance mode. Further, you are also eligible for regular B.Tech lateral entry scheme, there are many colleges offers admission in 2nd year to diploma holders. So, you may look this aspect also. Good Luck.
