Students seeking admission to CEBS have to appear for a National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) that is conducted at a large number of centers in India. NEST is a common screening test for both CEBS and the sister organization, NISER, Bhubaneswar. Selected students are called for counseling and admission to CEBS.

The Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai University, offers integrated Master of Science courses with four different specializations including Integrated Master of Science in Chemistry, Integrated Master of Science in Mathematics, Integrated Master of Science in Physics, and .B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D. Both B.Sc and M.Sc are considered as the best course provided by the Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai University.

The college's infrastructure is good, and they provide every facility. The college provides hostels for boys and girls separately. Admission to the hostel was based on a first-come, first-served basis, and preferences are given to the non-local students. The infrastructure of the hostel was good and well-facilitated with Wi-Fi, gym, etc.
