Candidates must pass a bachelor's or a master's degree or any other equivalent degree, preferably involving Management, Mathematics, Computer Science or allied fields with at least 60% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA or first class to apply for MSc programme at IIM Amritsar. Besides, aspirants must also have a valid score in CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE or JAM for admission.

IIM Amritsar offers a five-year Integrated programme in Management or IPM leading to MBA. Students in the course get an option to exit the course in three-years with a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance and Economics degree. Students are shortlisted for IPM based on their IPMAT scores. Selected candidates have to further pass a personal interview round for admission.

IIT Ropar campus caters to the sports needs of students. It has a cricket ground, football ground, hockey ground, badminton court, basketball court, and tennis court for outdoor activities. The institute also has an indoor facility for table tennis. The institute has a huge sports complex with plenty of sports options to encourage students to participate in indoor and outdoor sports activities. It also organised several sports festivals and events for the students.

The Nalanda Library of IIT Ropar acts as a knowledge hub for academic and research purposes. It has a vast collection of books, journals, theses, etc. Apart from books of study and reading material prescribed for courses, the library has a collection of research monographs, reports, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc. The library facilitates access to over 13,000 electronic journals from 30 publishers through its participation in the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative by the Government of India. The library is well furnished with comfortable tables and chairs, which are suitable for long working hours.

IIT Ropar hostel fees vary for different courses. In 2025, the semester-wise hostel fee for B.Sc. and B.Ed courses is INR 31500. This is valid for new admission only till 31st December 2025. Details regarding the same are tabulated below:

Yes, IIT Ropar has eight hostels, six for boys (Satlej, Beas, Sindhu, Mercury, Jupiter, and Neptune) and two for girls (Ravi, Venus) to house approximately 3000 students. IIT Ropar is a residential institute; therefore, all the students are required to reside in the hostels. All the hostel rooms are spacious and have all the basic furniture, such as a study table, chair, cupboard, single bed, etc. The rooms are allocated on a single and double occupancy basis. IIT Ropar hostels consist of dedicated rooms for recreational activities, providing a holistic environment for the students.
