Hi Shruty , Thapar University is very good and it is one of the best private college according to NIRF ranking made by Indian government. It is other thing that nirf ranking depends on other parameters as well from education quality and placements. I myself study in IIIT and i can tell you that no college can give you surety of having a good placement. If you study well in every semester , may be you will not get placed in college but you can try for companies going outside of colleges. Also company always want to hire the best employee. Thapar is one of the best private colleges in India according to NIRF ranking and also with respect to placement. Placement is quite good here in comparison to newer NITs or IIITs. The highest placement is 23-24 LPA and the average is near about 4 LPA. Thapar is best in terms of infrastructure, campus, placement, etc. So, yes it's worth the money.

Thapar University is better in terms of placements, infrastructure, college life, internships, industry visits, company collaboration, platforms, unions, faculty, food, hostel, etc.

It isn't. You must have got to know by now that the total number of seats are 80. The distribution goes like 60 for Army wards, 16 for Punjab Civil Category and 4 for All India Civil category. The written exam is of 200 marks and without negative marking.
You will be giving the exam to secure one of the 4 seats. The written exam is not that tough but since the seats are limited, it can be a little challenging.

If you're from general category then no you don't stand a chance but don't get disheartened give entrance exams for various top private college and try to give your best shot.

No required for JEE Mains Marks. You just have to clear your 12th board and then easily you can get admission.

Sorry to say but you can't get computer science engineering at GNU. Although you can get branches like electrical, mechanical or civil.
