All non-native speakers of English must demonstrate English language proficiency and are required to submit TOEFL (79), IELTS (6.0), Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency (176), Duolingo (105), TOEFL Essential (9.0), PTE (53) scores, or ELS 112 level except citizens of Australia, Canada (except Quebec), United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Guyana, and English-speaking countries of Africa and West Indies.

Aspirants may waive the language score requirement if their secondary institution provides written verification that the means of instruction is in English, they are enrolled in an IB curriculum, attend American School or enrolled in a curriculum that leads to Cambridge International Examinations: IGCSE/O-level and GCE/A level exam.

• Academic transcripts 
• $60 application fee
• GED students: a copy of the GED certificate from the state, along with a copy of your GED test record
• Students enrolling in a Visual & Performing Arts programme (excluding Art History): submit a portfolio or complete a music audition

Optional

• SAT/ACT score
• Letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor: highly recommended for our most competitive programs, such as nursing, biology, engineering, and psychology
• A personal essay (up to 650 words) that demonstrates qualities of leadership, community service, work experiences and/or other significant interests; this can be completed as part of your Common Application

The university accepts official TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson PTE or Duolingo (if accepted by program) score. Unofficial scores are accepted for admissions application review, once enrolled official scores are required and must be sent by the testing agency (copies/scans not accepted). This is required of any applicant who did not earn a bachelor’s degree or higher degree from an accredited academic institution in the U.S. or accepted English-speaking country. The Duolingo test is not accepted for the following programs: Art Education, Biology/Marine Biology, Luso-Afro-Brazilian Studies & Theory, Marine Science and Technology (MS, PSM, PhD), Nursing (MS, DNP, PhD), Portuguese Studies, Professional Writing and Communication, Psychology (ABA, Clinical, Research), and Public Policy.
