If you are talking about CSE branch then it is the best branch in JIS as per my knowledge. If you get better than JIS you should get.

Presidency University provides Bachelor's and Master's degree in Life Sciences which includes paper of Microbiology too. Course structure of Presidency University is very much research oriented which would be better for any further research prospect. Chance of cracking NET will be greater if you follow the syllabus of life sciences in Presidency University.
