Abroad is a vast term. Almost, every university in every country has different admission requirements which you must first get acquainted with. Some are more competitive than others. Likewise, the budget required is different. Complete 12th with a good percentage and prepare for tests such as SAT, IELTS or TOEFL, etc. Your education background must be relevant since you want to pursue IT, your background must have opted for science stream with relevant subjects. There is not much difference because most the subjects that you have to learn in MCA first year are already covered in your bachelors (if you from computer science department). But the point to note is how much you have actually learned in your bachelors. If you have worked hard in your bachelors, then go for lateral entry but if you lack in programming knowledge, go for 3 years course, because you will still get one year extra to learn the basics of computer programming in MCA first year and it will be helpful for the coming year where the other subjects won't be too easy.

For BCS, you need to complete your class 12th with Maths, as the main subject. So, I am sorry that you cannot do BCS from Maharashtra State Board. But, yes if you are not from Maharashtra, then you can enquire this to the concerned person or else you could choose to do distance learning education.
