There are so many programming lang in world approximatly more than 500.you can learn lang of ur choice but one thing is that most of language are same in concept only change is there syntax.
u r begineer so start learning from C which is basic to become good programmer then C+ java and all that.
U can also opt for web and mobile development which is increasing trend nowadays.

1) To work with the Government sector the candidates need to take the entrance exam conducted by the respective body. Some of the Government firms looking for the MCA candidates are :
-Gas Authority of India Ltd.

Can u independently handle any language?
If ur ans comes YES then only think for software development line or testing line.
Every line is good only depends upon u how much depth knowledge u have. As far as salary is concerned It depends upon u how tactfully and technically u have cleared ur interview not upon the degree or certificate u have with u.
U can choose embedded system line as well for this u must have sound knowledge of C, C+ and JAVA (complete).
Now a days LAMP (Linux Apache MySql and PHP) is ultimate
