The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) offers four major disciplines at SID in the following areas.

Discipline

Specialization

Communication Design

Graphic Design

Video Film Design

Animation Film Design

User Experience Design

Industrial Design

Product Design

Interior Space Design

The candidate will have to select their programme of study at the time of filling out the SEED 2026 application form. Admission to the above courses will be conducted on the basis of merit rank of the candidate in SID.

Note that the merit rank will be prepared considering the performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 written exam, Personal interaction, and Portfolio and PRPI Task review.

Admission to the M.Des programme will be conducted based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in:

  • Studio Test & Portfolio Review

  • Personal Interaction

The registration process for the M.Des prorgram will open tentatively in the 3rd week of January 2025. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria may apply.

It is recommended that interested candidates carefully go through the M.Des Information Brochure.

The B.Des programme has an intake capacity of 180 seats (Indian nationals only). In addition, there are 27 seats reserved for international students. The candidate may note that the seat intake is however subject to approval from SIU. There is also reservation of seats for SC, ST, and Differently Abled candidates.

The B.Des programme is available in four specialisations - Communication Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, and Fashion Communication.

Admission to the B.Des program offered by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will be in the following sequence:

  1. Filling of online application - Eligible candidates need to fill out the SEED application form before the last date.

  2. Appear in SEED exam - The candidate has to download the admit card and appear in the SEED entrance exam on the designed day.

  3. Declaration of results and shortlist - The results will be declared around the 4th week of January, followed by the released of shortlist for PRPI.

  4. Upload PRPI Task and Portfolio - Eligible candidates will have to upload their portfolio and PRPI task within the given deadline.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will release the updated syllabus for the SEED 2026 exam on its official portal at the time of release of the application form or sometime thereafter. The candidate can download the syllabus online at - sid.edu.in. The SEED 2026 syllabus will contain the topics that the candidate needs to prepare for the SEED 2026 entrance exam. 

It is recommended that the candidate only follows the official syllabus and not those released by unofficial sources. It is because questions will be asked from the official syllabus only. Also, unofficial sites may contain error-prone and misleading information

Candidates can download the syllabus of SEED 2026 from the official website of the Symbiosis Institute of Design - sid.edu.in.

  • Go to the homepage of SID
  • click on “Admission Process” under “Programmes.”
  • Window that opens will contain information on the SEED 2025 syllabus.
  • The candidate can note down the syllabus.

As per the information given on SID website, SID does not promote or is aware of any coaching classes/preparatory classes. Candidates have the choice to decide whether they want to join any coaching institute or not. Many coaching institutes offer preparatory classes for exams like NIFT, NID DAT, etc.

Yes, candidates seeking admission to the B.Des program need to compulsorily appear in the SEED 2026 exam.

The scores of the SEED exam will be used to shortlist candidates for a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round. The final merit list will be prepared by considering the cumulative performance of the candidate in the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction (PRPI).

So, any candidate who appears in the SEED but doesn't appear in the PRPI will not be considered for admission.
