There is no lateral entry in NID. Please understand design colleges are meant for technical knowledge, so there is no scope of lateral entry.

NIFT is the 2nd best in the country after NID. If you get through NIFT, there is no looking back. Do not get bothered so much about the rankings. Trust me, I have also done designing although long back. However, there is still so much demand for fresh graduates from NIFT and very well paid.

Graphic designers and animators both work in a creative field that involves developing designs primarily using a computer. While graphic designers create designs used in advertising for clients, animators create designs and animations that are used to entertain audiences. Both are equally good fields and well paid. Think about both and see one excites you most - go for it. Keep one thing in mind - Graphic designing has more scope and areas of work (media / advertisement / fashion / architecture / interiors / Textiles / even management, etc.). Whereas animation is restricted to media / Cinema / advertisement, etc.

Most employers require automobile designers to earn at least a Bachelors degree in engineering, industrial design, transportation design, or mechanical engineering with an automotive design concentration. Design schools require students to submit portfolios or samples of work during the application process.
