Automobile design is a very esoteric topic. Italian designers are most sought after. Many of them are students of fine arts and look from aesthetic point of view. Others are doing research in IC engines some are doing research in hybrid tech. I would suggest you do graduation in mechanical, then you can pursue M.Tech in machine design.

Candidates applying in Pearl Academy (fashion design) for UG courses need to complete 17 years, but should not be over 20 years of age. The applicants of PG courses have to be above 21 years.

You said that you want to become an automatics designer. Even if there is any such course, it's use is rather limited. Even Indian companies are taking design inputs from special companies abroad. However, if that is your passion then you need to get job in the design department of an automobile major. Merely studying further will not help you.

Yes, it's surely a good idea to pursue PG Diploma. You will have to appear for and clear GATE with good score then only you will get admission in a good institute since recruiters normally come only to good and reputed colleges.
