Dear Danette,
Most firms will require that you atleast have a bachelors degree. As far as I know, getting a diploma will only give you knowledge on the basics of interior design. You need to know how to sketch, use programs such as CAD and Revit and must be aware of all safety codes and regulations.

If you wish to take up graphic designing as a side course, then it would be good if you go for an online course. The top institutes does not offer part time courses. However, please find the list below for top designing institutes:

either go with designing and later go to the automobile industry.
another option available is to do automobile engineering and specialise in designing. this is the most likely recommended option.
