Acceptance rate of Duke University is 6%, and the Harvard University acceptance rate is 4%. There is very slight difference in the acceptance rate, which prove both universities are highly tough to enter. Students should perform good in studies, fulfill the basic qualification, and submit all documents to get a chance in either of two.

For the year 2026, Duke University admissions are test-optional. This means that the students do not really need to submit these scores but it gives an applicant an advantage if they do.

So, 1480 is not a bad score but not nearly good enough for Duke University. Applicants who get in have an average SAT score of 1550 out of 1600

The students should not be discouraged, though, this university looks at the holistic profile of a student and then comes to a decision. The factors given below might just change their decision -

  • Engaging essays
  • Extracurriculars showing leadership skills
  • A near-perfect GPA

As an Indian student, you can apply for the two types of deadlines at Duke University, ED and RD.  The Early Decision application window closes around November 3 every year and for the Regular decision, it closes around January 5th

Indian students can apply via the Common App or the Coalition Application. Please note that most of the Duke University courses are open for application for the Fall semester

As per the Duke University admission process, international students may have to attend an interview. These interviews are conducted by Duke alumni and have some deadlines.

All different programs have different timelines (UG, PG, MBA and Law). For the early decision admissions, they are conducted in November or December and for Regular decisions, this interview window is December to February

Absolutely, GPA is one of the most important factors for Duke University admissions. This is used to assess how academically inclined an applicant is. To be considered at this university, the students would require a near-perfect GPA, which is often 3.9 or 4.0

However, a well-rounded application always wins the race. Given below are the other factors Duke cares for -

  • Being at the top of the class
  • Great extracurriculars
  • Advanced coursework with challenging subjects like Physics, Chemistry Math
  • Deep and engaging essays
  • Test scores (SAT or ACT)
