Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE is a national examination conducted jointly by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee on behalf of National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. GATE examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT). So GATE is basically a national examination on the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering / Technology / Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Arts, Commerce and Science. GATE 2021 will be conducted for 27 Subjects (also referred to as papers). Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to Postgraduate Programs (Master's and Doctoral) with Ministry of Education (MoE) and other Government Scholarships / Assistant ships, subject to the admission criteria of the admitting institute. The GATE score is also used by some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for their recruitment and by several other universities in India and abroad for admissions. GATE 2021 score will remain valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of results. So the preparation strategy of GATE is depended upon the educational background you belong to. However, 6-8 months are very good enough for GATE preparation. You can also take help from the private GATE study centers as well as from the online live courses like from MADE EASY, GATE FORUM and ACE Engineering Academy, etc.

Hello Samyukta, it's very nice to hear from you that you are in the 10th standard and still preparing for JEE entrance exams. Frankly speaking you should concentrate more on learning the subjects in 10th as well as in 11th and 12th. If your understanding of the subjects is superb then it is much is here to clear with good marks JEE Mains as well as JEE Advanced. It is definitely good to keep track of what is happening on this issue but I would definitely like to advise you not to waste too much of time on this but spend your time judicious leave in matter that had just told you that is understanding the subjects in detail. Hello Satya, if I may say so you are ranking in JEE Mains at about Two lacs Plus is a bit on the lower side. It would be quite tough to get admission based on merit with this rank. However in many states there are plenty of engineering colleges and as a consequence they are not able to get students up to the capacity. In such scenario if you apply then you will get admission almost definitely. On the other hand these colleges perhaps are not getting students because they do not offer many facilities and also the past performance in placements is also not very noteworthy. If you are really interested in only engineering then perhaps you can think of going in for management quota in private colleges or deemed to be university. Best wishes to you.
