With a JEE Main rank of 99,862 and assuming you belong to the General or EWS category, you might have chances in the following Government colleges in Maharashtra, especially under Home State:

  • VJTI Mumbai – Tough for CSE/IT, but you could get a chance in the lower branches like Civil or Production Engineering.
  • COEP Technological University, Pune – CSE is unlikely, but you may get branches like Metallurgy, or Instrumentation.
  • Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli – You have a good chance for branches like EEE, Civil, or Mechanical.
  • Government College of Engineering, Amravati/Aurangabad/Jalgaon/Nagpur – You have go

Having a JEE Main rank of 1,364,291 and in the SC category, the possibility of getting into a top-tier government engineering college (such as an NIT, or IIIT) is extremely low, since the SC cutoffs typically close much earlier (in the first 3-4 lakh).

However, you could potentially find options in:

  • State-level government engineering colleges through your state's counseling.
  • Some lower-ranked GFTIs, should they have empty seats reserved for SC.
  • Private colleges offering reservation or scholarships.

Make sure you check your state counselling portals and apply to as many colleges as you can.

Practising GATE old question papers play an important role in preparation. They help in understanding the GATE exam pattern, difficulty level, and topic-wise weightage. It also helps in building accuracy and time management. Aim to solve at least 5 to 10 question papers before the examination.

Coaching isn't mandatory for GATE preparation, though it helps in getting mentorship and accessible tools and study materials. However, many GATE toppers crack the exam through self-study using online resources and their standard books. If you are disciplined and clear with basics, coaching might not be necessary.

Based on the most recent and reliable cutoff trends:

The expected closing rank for CSE at SRM-AP (Amaravati) is typically in the 3,500–6,000 range. Even in years where cutoffs relaxed, they did not generally go beyond 6,000 for the general category at this campus.

For main and more sought-after campuses (such as Kattankulathur in Chennai), CSE usually closes much earlier—well within 2,000–9,000.

With a 15,000 rank, you may have options in other branches (like ECE, IT, Mechanical) at SRM-AP or CSE in lower-preference campuses, but pure CSE at SRM-AP is statistically out of reach as per recent years' counseling cutoffs.

We can predict a range of rank which may get you into Parul University through JEE Mains for BTech in CSE.

For B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering at Parul University, the expected cutoff through JEE Mains is around 38488 for the general category. Parul University also accepts scores from GUJCET and direct admissions are also possible.
