Marks obtained have definitely a relationship with rank, but it's a dynamic concept. It all depends on how many students have scored more than you. Every year it changes.

GATE is only one of the more than 10 different entrance exams for joining PG in engineering. It all depends on what score your intended institution accepts. You need to appear for that CET.

You are eligible for appearing in IIT JEE 2018, but according to the eligibility criteria for admissions in various IITs, NITs and CFTIs you are not eligible for admission in these colleges. You need at least 75% in class 12th for being eligible for admission in these colleges.
Do not worry, you can use your scorecard for admission in various good private colleges also. Many good colleges also take admissions on the basis of JEE Mains scorecard. So don't lose your hope.
Hope this will help you.
Best of luck.

JEE Mains and JEE Advanced cover the same subjects but they have a different difficulty level of questions. JEE Mains questions are straightly asked while the questions asked in JEE Advanced are very tricky.
For JEE Mains you must cover all the NCERT books for a stronger base. As concepts are very important for cracking JEE Advanced, you will have to build concepts strongly. For this you can refer the following books:
Following are the books:
1. Physical Chemistry by RC Mukherjee.
2. For Inorganic, you can go for Concise Inorganic Chemistry by J. D. Lee.
3 For Organic, you can go for one of the following books:
A. OP Tandon
B. Mor
