You should start preparing from the 2nd year, keep note of basic concepts. Keep revising the concepts and applications of the same. Mostly you will get application based problems. You can join a coaching in 3rd year to get some study material and revising your concepts.

Why are you so confused right now ?
Just chill and make yourself eligible for the best you can achieve.
Study hard and don't think of branch preferences right now as you are in class 12th. The right time will come to think of it.
Good luck!

Dear Aashish,
You are planning to drop a year for JEE it means that you are dreaming for IITs or NITs. In that case, I just want to share 2 of my views with you.
1) Since you don't have 75% in your 12th, you must give your exam again. Dear IIT will shortlist on the basis of your PCM marks and your aggregate marks too. Means you have to score 75%+ in PCM and overall too. Now, go to your result and check weather you have to give only 1 exam or all.
2) If you are dropping your precious one year for JEE then you have to make extremely sure yourself that yes you can clear the cut-off for your desired branch in desired campus because even afte

Hello Rittik,
Good to see you again!
Why student wants a specified book in which the title is written on the front of the book that is CRACK WBJEE or CRACK COMEDK. No, my friend, these things are not a big issue just focus on NCERT books honestly. Why do you want to waste money on other books? Yes, one thing I would recommend is that you should use MCQ books by MTG or TMH which are good for practice after completing the topics from NCERT book.
For further queries, please revert.
All the best!

Dear Dhaya,
First of all, whatever you are wishing to be in the career, English is a must. So kindly put some concern on your English language skills. Now come on to your question (as far I am understanding), you are asking for preparation in JEE Mains paper-2. Dear, for this you have to be a bit more dedicated. If possible, go to the tuitions. Improve your engineering drawing. For the rest of the subjects, go to the NCERT books. For any query feel free to ask me anytime!
Good luck!

For engineering entrance exams like JEE, BITSAT, a minimum of 75% would be enough to be eligible for the exam. Percentage matters when you want to want to take admission in universities like DU for B.Sc courses.
