BENGALURU: The counselling for undergraduate engineering seats under COMEDK (Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka), which was scheduled to begin on Friday, has been postponed again due to the delay in announcement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 results.
A communication from COMEDK says, the counselling will start on June 12. The registration for the first round of online counselling will commence on June 12 and the option entry process will be held between June 12 and June 20.
Considering the interests of candidates, COMEDK had to postpone the counselling twice. We are trying to avoid inconvenience to students as they will be forced to opt for engineering seats if we start counselling before NEET results are announced, a COMEDK official said.

The Maharashtra common entrance test (MH-CET) conducted for admission into engineering and pharmacy courses could change from next year as the state has asked authorities to bring it at par with the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) from 2018-19.
A Government Resolution (GR)was issued to announce the decision. The GR clearly states that MH-CET for engineering and pharmacy courses will have to be brought at par with JEE in terms of the level of difficulty, paper pattern as well as quality of tests from next year, said Dayanand Meshram, joint director of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) which conducts the exam. The GR was released by the state last week and will be applicable from next year. This year the test will be based on previous years pattern and syllabus.
This change comes months after officials from DTE had proposed changes to the government in the MH-CET exam, in order to bring better quality applicants for engineering courses across institutes in the state. Since the entrance exam to all medical and health science courses is already at par with national level exams, we wanted to make sure we avoid any last-minute changes to the engineering and pharmacy entrance test. This would give enough time to students to prepare for the entrance exam in 2018, added Meshram.

VITEEE Counselling 2017 The counselling dates of VITEEE 2017 for Phase II have been announced by VIT University. While counselling for VITEEE 2017 phase I is being conducted from May 10 to 12 as per candidates ranks, counselling for Phase II is being held between May 15 and May 22. The counselling of VITEEE 2017 is being conducted for candidates who have appeared in the online engineering entrance exam conducted by VIT University for admission to its Chennai and Vellore campuses. VITEEE 2017 counselling is being done on different dates based on candidates ranks, ie: candidates within a certain range of ranks are called for appearing in VITEEE counselling 2017 on different dates. Further the qualifying candidates ofVITEEE2017 are allotted B.Tech seats at the university based on their merit and branch preferences. As per the university, the applicants have to submit their counselling centre choices two days before their schedule for appearing in VITEEE 2017 counselling.
