I think you should go for private colleges, because with your score it is going to be tough to get IITs/NITs. If you want to try then this isn't a good idea at all because 1 year is much time and I'll not suggest you to waste your complete 1 year. You should try in private colleges with great academic background and placements history.

Yes, you can apply for JAC, Chandigarh counselling. UIRT Punjab University is far better than Many NITs. Reputation of Punjab University is also very good in Asia.

If you are a General category student, then you need very good marks in your boards to get into NIT. But, the chances are slim, still you can definitely wait for the spot round: it can work wonders.

Yes, private colleges under WBUT accept JEE main score.You can try Colleges like Heritage Kolkata, BC Roy Durgapur,Techno India salt lake etc.I will suggest you to try JAC Chandigarh counselling .You will get mechanical engineering at UIET, Punjab University which is better than lower NITs.

Hello Patel,
First thing, these two exams are not compulsory. NEET (national eligibility cum entrance test) exam is for getting admission for MBBS a BDS courses in India.
GATE (graduate aptitude test in engineering) is for admission into IITs and other reputed institutions for doing M.Tech /ME degrees after B.Tech /BE
For medical, NEET is compulsory but not GATE.
