If you think you are able to qualify JEE then drop one year but if you don't want to prepare for JEE then give entrance exams of private universities.

Try for some lower NIT's like NIT, Patna. You may get admission. As the seats have increased you can try for other NIT's also.

Yes, you will definitely get mechanical in DTU, last year, mechanical was offered to the OBC students having rank up to 85000.
