For B.Tech (Lateral), candidates must have passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks for Backward class and PWD candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only), Alternatively for B.Tech (Lateral), candidates with B.Sc. From a recognised university as defined by UGC and obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks for Backward class and PWD candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) and passed 10+2 with Mathematics as a subject, are also eligible. Students appearing for 10+2 or Engineering Diploma are also eligible. Maharashtra State candidates must have to appear for MHT CET. All India candidates need to appear for MHT-CET/JEE Mains. However, JEE Mains will be preferred over MHT CET. Selection Criteria
Admission is through counseling conducted by DTE Maharashtra based on marks obtained in Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) or rank obtained in JEE-Mains. For international students admission is through counseling conducted by DTE Maharashtra based on marks obtained in mandatory subjects in 10+2. The admission for first-year engineering degree courses is done through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). To become eligible for CAP the candidates need to register their application online. They can visit the website of the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra and fill-up the form. Candidates have to report to the Application Form Receipt Centre (ARC) for document verification. Candidates will be shortlisted for CAP rounds based on their score in the entrance exam and preferences given by them for courses and colleges. Hello Tejas Shelar, you have mentioned your marks in MHT CET at 70%. But these days percentage is not used for calculation of ranking but it is the percentile which is of vital importance. What is the percentile which will remind you are ranking and which in turn will determine your chances of getting admission. But I am sure you will get admission in civil engineering in one of the good colleges in mobile. Unfortunately there is no separate ranking of colleges of Mumbai based on civil engineering but there is a ranking available on other parameters. Mumbai is a one of the well-known engineering colleges in Maharashtra and is said to be ranked second in Maharashtra after College of engineering, Pune (excluding IITs and NITs). Getting into this college through MH-CET requires a lot of efforts too. Placements of VJTI are pretty good when compared to other government colleges in Maharashtra. For EEE department last time (2016-17) out of 64 students who applied to placements from EEE department 59 students were placed meaning 92.18 percent placement for EEE which is a quite good number.
