It's interesting proposition which you are making. Yes, there are many students who follow this route of getting success rather than going to the syllabus and understanding the subjects. I will definitely not recommend this approach because it is not doing any value addition to you. Y

You may if you also have satisfying grades and if you meet other requirements as set by them. Depends on how selective they are while evaluating your profile, depends on profiles of other applicants, you just have your give your best shot.

He should focus on basics and practice more and more.
Before clearing an entrance exam all the branches have same criteria.
It may vary college to college due to their facility and infrastructure.
If he wants to join ece just tell him to focus on practice and fallow what teacher is saying in his classe

Jobs are there in every field but the thing they need skill. If you are an engineer you must be from IIT or NIT or any reputed college of country. If you wanna get good job. Otherwise, you have to hustle a lot on making your self skillful and eligible for a good job.
