Candidates with a bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering of a minimum four-year duration are eligible to apply. Eligible students further need to take the GATE exam. Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE score following which they are called for CCMT Counselling. No, direct admission is not available for the MTech course at IIIT Allahabad. The institute admits students based on a valid GATE entrance exam score, followed by the CCMT counselling process.

Candidates taking admission to an MTech programme shall have a valid BE/BTech degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST) from a recognised university. The candidates wanting to pursue M.Tech from IIITA need to take the GATE exam. Candidates with a valid GATE score are called for the CCMT Counselling rounds based on cutoff marks. Further, based on performance in the counselling round, seat allotment is carried out.
