AIML & AMD branches are new and better in terms of private sector jobs and have less demand at the present. CSIT would have more score although B.Tech in IT is also demanding. It depend a lot on your interest and goal. If you goal is government job then one can opt for CSIT. You can also read governing engineering job notification.

As per the VTU procedure, the CGPA is calculated. There is a formula to calculate SGPA & CGPA. SGPA is each semester's GPA and CGPA is the cumulative GPA. To calculate CGPA you must have all your SGPA. SGPA= sum [ (course credits) X (Grade points)] for all courses with Letter grades, including F (in that semester)] / sum [ (course credits)] for all courses with letter grades, including F (until that semester)]
CGPA= average of all SGPA.

In my opinion, I suggest you try to attend the internals even though you miss some classes. It creates a huge impact on your final exam. You can miss one test out of 3 for each subject but this plan is not advised. They take the best 2 tests to make it up to 50 marks but if u fail to get 25 marks combined then they consider you as a fail and also you are not allowed to attempt the final exam of that semester. You get a 'W' grade for that and you have to wait till even the semester to take up the subject again.

Internals in NIE plays a keen role to decide not only your internal exam result but also your final end-semester result. But Honestly its not that difficult to score in internals if you study day to day. They take the best 2 tests to make it up to 50 marks but if u fail to get 25 marks combined then they consider you as a fail and also you are not allowed to attempt the final exam of that semester. You get a 'W' grade for that and you have to wait till even the semester to take up the subject again.
