Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, only considers TANCET percentile score. TANCET actual score is calculated by allotting 1 mark each for the correct response and deducting 1/3 mark for each incorrect response. The actual score can be converted into a percentile score after evaluating the total test takers with an actual score that is less than a particular test taker. For example, Mohan has an actual score of 59 marks, and 95% of the total test takers secured an actual score below 59. In such a case, the percentile score of Mohan will be 95. Similarly, if 98% of the test takers had secured an actual score less than 59, Mohan would get 98 as his percentile score in TANCET exam.
