Cut off marks for admission to a diploma varies from one state to another state and also for different category of persons based on caste. In general, with special reference to Tamil nadu State ,I can give the MAX-MIN% cut off for different category. However, this may vary slightly upwards/downwards.
OC and forward caste persons is varies from 100 to 80% of total marks in SSLC/SSC(10th class)
BC is varies from 79 to 60% of total marks.in SSLC/SSC(10th class)
MBC is varies from 59 to 40% of total marks.in SSLC/SSC(10th class)

There are a number of good institutions in our country offering B.Sc. Degree. DU is the first choice of most of the aspirants. The following colleges are some of the best colleges is
St Stephen College
Hindu College
IISc Bangalore
Indian Statistical Institute (for maths)
P. S. Stephens might become autonomous. Also this numbering doesn't indicate any kind of ranking.

There is no minimum cutoff for KLETU Gunupur in JEE mains. Your board's marks should be above 45%. You can find students with their JEE ranks ranging from 10000- 10 lakhs. I don't know why the students with ranks under 20,000 chose this college. There are better options out there.

Certainly NO.
Only theory, no implementation, only 1 day free class in a week, 9-5 continuous classes, more than half of the CS-IT faculty is incompetent, 75% attendance compulsory or they slash your main marks by half, can't sit on the ground, NO purified water and NO canteen, NO or a very few placements, NO major company visits (the ones displayed on the website haven't visited in years).
But you can take admission and see for yourself.
You can also meet some students currently studying there and ask them personally.

If you've studied well for boards, then of course you can get a good rank in VITEEE. Otherwise, chances are less. Few tips -

  1. If you're in CBSE, focus only on class 12th topics. Very less topics are from 11th like equilibrium, etc.
  2. Follow the brochure and prepare accordingly.
  3.  If your preparation for boards was good, then it won't take much effort.
  4. VITEEE has no negative marking, hence attempt all questions. Keep a margin of 5-10 min just for attempting the questions whose answers you don't know.
  5. Solve your strong subject first and the weakest subject in the end.

All the best. VITEEE is one of the easiest entrances in engineering.

As for government. Engineering college the candidate must be appeared in respective government Engineering entrance exam. For most of the government. Colleges JEE Mains is sufficient. But some colleges conduct their own entrance exams. Like WBJEE COMEDK etc. Now some private engineering colleges can give admission based on 12th marks. But through JEE Mains you can also get good private college. B.Tech from CSE is top notch branch nowadays so your child has to grind hard to present his skills and get admission in superb college.

The cut off ranks for popular engineering colleges are higher compared to less popular colleges. The cut off ranks for top colleges such as JNTU College of Engineering Hyderabad, Osmania University College of Engineering, and Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology are usually in the range of 5000 to 10000.
