The campus has legendary industry roots and specialised chemical equipment that newer institutes lack. However, IITs might offer better brand value for non-chemical fields like software roles.

Yes, JEE Main is required for admission to IIT Bombay's BTech programmes. It is an eligibility requirement for JEE Advanced. Students cannot get admission to IIT Bombay using only the JEE Main score. Aspirants must appear for JEE Advanced and participate in JoSAA counselling for final seat allotment in BTech course.

Admission in IIT Bombay is considered competitive. To get admission in UG engineering courses, students must first give JEE Main exam. Then if the aspirant passes the cutoff, they can appear for the JEE Advanced Exam. The entry to IITs is decided solely on the basis of JEE Advanced rank. The final seat allotment is based on JoSAA counselling.

HBTU JEE Main cutoff 2026 ranged from 51696 to 98963 for the OBC AI category in the third round. As per this range, BTech in Computer Science and Engineering was the most competitive branch for admission, with a cutoff of 51696.
