There is no concept of free seats in NITs. However, you can get a 100 percent fee waiver under the ST category as per regulations. You will need to submit an income Certificate an affidavit, and other supporting documents to get the fee waiver. Additionally, at some NITs, such as NIT Trichy, you may get scholarships. With your ST rank of 9607, you can get NIT for branches such as mechanical. Also, you may get a seat allocated in the CSAB special round. For example, the mechanical branch's closing rank for the ST category in the National Institute of Technology Calicut is 116012 in the first round of allotment CSAB 2022). For the Chemical Engineering branch, the ST closing rank is 141639 at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. I hope you have registered for CSAB counseling.
