General Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have completed their BTech/ BE/ BSc engineering degree in their respective discipline from any University of Kerala or any other equivalent exam with at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-pointer scale.
Candidates must have qualified for GATE 2022 with a valid score. GATE score will not be required for candidates seeking admission in MTech Marine Biotechnology. Such candidates will have to qualify for JNU CEE MTech 2022.
Non-GATE-qualified candidates can appear for the CUSAT Department Admission Test (DAT) that will be conducted for admissions later.
Candidates must have completed BTech/ BE/ BSc Engineering Degree Examination in Civil Engineering branch with a minimum of 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University/ Institution accepted by this University.
Candidates who have passed sections A&B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) AMIE in the Civil branch will be eligible.
A valid GATE score is a must.

And that is; B.Tech distance education is declared invalid by the Supreme Court of India and AICTE. So, you won't be able to pursue higher education in the field. If graduation is the highest degree you want to go for then distance education shouldn't be a problem I suppose, you can consult someone for that as well.
