Yes, a JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) is required to qualify for the merit-based scholarships offered at Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC) for B.Tech students.
The college provides tuition fee waivers based on specific rank brackets in the JEE Main examination. These scholarships are applicable for all four years of the B.Tech program, provided the student maintains the required academic and attendance standards.
AKGEC B.Tech Merit Scholarship Criteria (2026-27)
The scholarship amount is a percentage of the tuition fee, determined by your All India Rank:

| 1 – 10,000 | 100% Waiver |
| 10,001 – 15,000 | 75% Waiver |
| 15,001 – 20,000 | 50% Waiver |

IIT Mandi: Possible for Power Electronics & Drives (PED) or Energy Engineering.
IIT Gandhinagar / IIT Bhubaneswar: Good chances for interdisciplinary branches like Biomedical Engineering or Earth System Science.
