The WBCS prelims exam is qualifying in nature only. The marks secured in the WBCS prelims exam are not considered for the final merit list. The details of the WBCS prelims question paper is as follows.

Yes, there is negative marking in the WBCS preliminary and main exams.
In the WBCS prelims exam, the quantum of negative marking is one by third. The negative marking makes the exam difficult. For each incorrect answer, the Commission will deduct 1/3 of the marks assigned for correct answer.
In the main exam, the quantum of the negative marking is 10% of the marks assigned to the question.

Yes, the WBCS main exam has some papers which are objective paper and other papers are subjective. The out of six compulsory papers, four are objective type multiple choice questions based paper. The other two papers and optional subjects are descriptive type conventional papers. The four objective type MCQs are
- Paper III: General Studies - I
- Paper IV: General Studies - II
- Paper V: The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of the Reserve Bank of India.
- Paper VI: Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning.

SMEAT is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology. For the current academic session, the entrance exam has three admission rounds. Note that for each round, the application process will be conducted separately.
The 1st round of admission process is currently over. The application form for Round I was open from January 10 to March 27, 2024. The entrance exam was conducted from April 6-7, 2024.

Numerical Ability section of the BMAT question paper is tough. The important topics of this section include Arithmetic, Algebra Modern Math, Geometry, Number System Average, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration Permutation and Combination, Quadratic Equation, Logarithm, Probability Statistics Pie Chart, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Mixture and Allegations, Time and Work, etc. The Numerical Skills in BMAT exam tests the mathematical ability of the students.

According to students, SMEAT exam is in the range of average, which is neither too easy and nor too tough. The candidate, however, has to know the syllabus and its core subjects thoroughly in order to score well.
Candidates appearing for SMEAT can also appear in other popular private entrance exams like MITID DAT, Pearl Academy, and FDDI AIST.
There are then the top-tier entrance exams like NIFT, NID, and UCEED.

Yes, Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology offer one-year PG Diploma course. The PGDP programme allows the individual to choose among two course offerings, the Bridge and the Finish, each of which have been designed to align to different levels of learning.
The SMEAT 2026 exam for Round I will be conducted around the 1st week of April 2026.

The candidates who appear in document verification will be sent for a medical examination at the Railway Hospitals. They will have to qualify in the medical category ‘B-1’ as prescribed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual. Those wearing glasses or having flat foot, knock knee, squint eyes, colour blindness and other bodily defects are not eligible for an appointment.

SMEAT 2026 entrance exam result for Round 1 was declared on April 29, 2026. The results were declared online at admission portal of the institute. To check results, candidates need to log in using their credentials.

Yes, the PTE exam for students opting to study abroad, i.e. PTE Academic is now available to be taken online. The PTE Academic Online exam can be taken on the my PTE portal and allows students to appear for the exam from the comfort of their homes, offices or any quiet and private space that abides by all the conditions mandated by the Pearson PLC Group.
The at-home PTE online exam has been launched as an aid for students who cannot reach the distant PTE test centers easily. However, the PTE exam fees remains the same for both PTE Academic and PTE Academic Online exams.
