1. A bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized University.
2. Around 3-5 years of post-qualification managerial/professional work experience. The work experience criteria may differ from Institute to Institute.
3. Other than this, depending on the Institute's requirements, you would have to clear the entrance exam, group discussion and personal interview rounds.
4. Institutes like the IIMs require a valid GMAT score (taken within last 36 months of Application date).

To pursue Executive MBA you need to have:

The chance of placement with full time MBA is definitely better but you need to ensure that you do it from a reputed B-school.
As you have mentioned that you have an experience of 5 years in IT, so if you are satisfied with the company you are in and need a qualification to get promoted to higher management levels within the organization, then you can also consider weekend batches.
But if you want to move to a new organization and are willing to invest 1 year, then you can choose full time MBA.
