Designer's who complete a Bachelor's degree before seeking work in fashion take about four years to start their careers. While most graduates find work in fashion or related fields after school, it can take years for a designer to gain recognition in the industry.

Fashion designers typically do the following:
Study fashion trends and anticipate designs that will appeal to consumers. Decide on a theme for a collection. Use computer-aided design (CAD) programs to create designs. Visit manufacturers or trade shows to get samples of fabric. Select fabrics, embellishments, colors, or a style for each garment or accessory. Work with other designers or team members to create prototype designs. Present design ideas to the creative director or showcase them in fashion or trade shows. Market designs to clothing retailers or directly to consumers. Oversee the final production of their designs.

Hi Pratiksha,
You cannot do both as you are already doing a regular degree course. Fashion designing course is also a regular course and if you can manage your time then you can do your Diploma in fashion designing, but you need to manage that or else you can do fashion designing course through distance education where classes will be on Saturday and Sunday, these are the option available for you.
