Don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want to do after studying B.Tech. You may take the following considerations. If you like a computer, want to build crazy applications or something related to software go with Computer Science and Engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. After studying electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only a few get a chance in electronics companies. As you have done PG in Chemistry, there is a vast scope for you. Your NET rank is also good, so you can apply for lectureship. If you are interested in business, you can start your own business like the pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, etc.

Books from madeeasy for GATE are quite reliable. You can go for those books. But rather then reading those books if you concentrate in your classes and clear your basic engineering concept clearly it will be more beneficial to you. All the best.
