Hello Sanjay,
GATE exam is only for admission into post graduate programs in the top Institutes like IIsc, IITs, etc.
To get government jobs you need to appear for the respective exams satisfying the eligibility requirements.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the IISc and IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. GATE score is used for admission in M.Tech in various Engineering colleges in India. It is also used by PSUs for hiring entry level Engineering jobs.

Hello,
If you wanted to do Masters in technology that is M.Tech. from prominent IITs & IISc then GATE is the compulsory.
If you wanted to do Masters in Science again through IIT colleges than IIT JAM exam is their IIT JAM exam is conducted to pursue the Master degree in science (M.Sc) at IITs & IISc.
The IIT JAM exam is conducted in 7 subjects.
IIT JAM exam is relatively easy exam as the GATE exam has more than 10 subjects to prepare for the exam but in IIT JAM student need to focus on the single subject in which the candidate is going to give the exam.
