Yes, you can start preparation for GATE you need to keep the basics clear, questions in GATE are generally based on applications of concept clear knowledge of concepts will help you to tackle them easily. You can get study materials of Made Easy available in market. You can enroll for materials of Career Launcher. You just need to put 2-3 hours of practice for the concepts you studied in class. Regular practice will easily help you to crack GATE with a good score.

No competitive examination is ever tough to qualify if you are qualified and prepared to crack it. You are advised to plan and prepare well for GATE examination to fulfill your dream. Dear Akash,
Criteria changes every year but for a boy to get a job in PSU throught GATE, you will have to work hard as you will have to achieve under 200 or 300 rank and almost become a topper.

Yes, you can do it from the very first day of your engineering. First of all, take out the latest syllabus of GATE according to your branch and then find out which subject came in which semester. Then, focus on these subjects in every semester and always read standard books on these subjects.

Hello Bushings,
How many marks in GATE will fetch you seat in a PG course is hazardous to guess. Normally, cutoffs are announced along with result. Your first priority should be to get marks more than cutoff. However, to get admission in good college, you need to have really good score. Only this will fetch you admission in the desired institute.

Cutoffs are decided every year based on many factors that are dynamic in nature. Total number of students appeared in that subject, total number of seats available, etc. As per the trend, every year more students are appearing. The trend of getting marks is also considered while deciding cutoffs. It is expected that the cutoff would be around 25 this year for general category candidates.
