Yes, a GATE-qualified student with an MA in English can apply for a PhD programme and may receive a stipend. Although GATE is mainly linked with the engineering and technology fields, some institutions may allow the acceptance of GATE scores in interdisciplinary programs, including those of humanities.
Stipend Details:
Stipend Amount: PhD students are paid a monthly stipend of 31,000 for the first two years as Junior Research Fellows (JRF). It increases to 35,000 in subsequent years as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF).
Eligibility: Candidates who had earned a valid GATE score and were registered at approved PhD programs at participating GAT

A score of 10.33 marks in the GATE EEE exam significantly reduces the chances of obtaining admission to any IIT for any stream branch, as this is far below the usual cut-off marks for even the low-ranked ones; most probably, this score will not secure you any IIT admission.

NIT Uttarkhand accepts valid GATE exam scores for M.Tech admissions. As per official sources, the GATE exam date for the 2025 session is out. The exam was scheduled to be held from Feb 1 to Feb 16, 2025. To register, the students can visit the official GATE website.

Students seeking admission to NIT Puducherry M.Tech courses can take admission via GATE exam. The steps to apply for GATE are as follows:
1. Go to the GATE 2025 registration portal.
2. Rgister as new candidate. Generate login credentials.
3. Login using credentials generated in the last step.
4. Fill out the application form and pay the application fees. The GATE application fees 2025 is INR 1,800 for general and INR 900 for female/SC/ST/PwD.
5. Submit the form.

NIT Puducherry accpets GATE exam scores for admission to its M.Tech courses. As per official sources, the exam was held from Feb 1 to Feb 16, 2025. Moreover, the results for GATE 2025 were released in the month of March. The results were made available on the official website of the exam.

If two applicants secure the same GATE score for admission to M.Tech at IIITDM Jabalpur, the institute resolve and determine the inter-se-merit of candidates, from the following criteria:
- In the unlikely event of candidates' year of GATE score being the same, preference will be given based on the All-India Rank (AIR) divided by total appearance in that GATE paper. Candidates with lower value will be given preference.
