GATE is examination for M.Tech studies in India. Most of universities abroad use GRE score for admission in their MS program. You may plan to appear in both GATE & GRE for wider choices for doing postgraduate degree in Mechanical engineering after B.Tech.

Hello Sri Harsha,
You have an excellent CGPA and decent GRE score. Unfortunately it might not be possible for you to get into TAMU College station with a GRE score of 308. Also you have a plain profile, which might be a barrier for TAMU. Definitely you can try for Arizona and North Carolina universities. Apart from these, you can also try Rutgers the state university of New Jersey, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, University of Maryland and few more good universities
All the best!

Hi Himanshu,
You can start by taking a mock test and get yourself acclimatized with the test, you will also know topics you need to revise, your weakness and also your strengths. Prepare your study routine accordingly. 3-5 months is enough, if you devote yourself regularly and stick to your routine. Take as many mock tests you can after regular intervals and track your progress.
I hope this helps.

It's okay. My friend got in universities with GRE score of 284. So, there's no problem. But, as you are working, you should write again to get scholarships if your academics are good.
